The collaboration between Jessica from Jessica Doodles and I started purely by chance when I spotted her doodles on Facebook. I thought it would be fun if she could draw something for me to turn into an amigurumi. So I mentioned the idea to her and she was really enthusiastic about it.
For our first collaboration, Jessica suggested to bring to life this Llama wearing a party hat that she had drawn on a birthday card for a friend. At around the same time, I found out about the “Animals At Work” Design Contest that Amigurumipatterns.net is hosting so we decided to take part with the Llama. Thus, Lady The Party Planner Llama was born.
It was a real challenge for me to turn Jessica’s doodle into an actual amigurumi as I had to figure out how to stay faithful to the Lady’s unique body shape and also her furry body. After much research and deliberation, I decided to learn the loop stitch and use it to crochet Lady’s body. It was my first time crocheting loop stitches so there were lots and lots of frogging up to the point that I had almost given up.
Thankfully, I persevered and soon the body began to take shape. For the other parts, I decided to stick to basic shapes so that these parts would stand out from the furry body.
Finally, after weeks of taking Lady wherever I go (I even brought her along when I went to Sydney for a vacation) and working hard on her, I finally completed our dear Party Planner Llama.
I hope you enjoyed the little story of Lady The Party Planner Llama.
Voting is still open until 30th November so if you like Lady, do go and cast a vote for her at www.amigurumipatterns.net/designcontest/vote. Voting is really simple. On behalf of Jessica and myself, thank you very much for your support!
Till the next project. xoxo
